Week 10 SEC Availability Report: Florida without top WR Vernell Brown III vs. Georgia

Florida’s initial SEC Availability Report ahead of its Week 10 matchup with No. 5 Georgia features 10 players, including standout freshman receiver Vernell Brown III.

Brown, the team leader in both receptions (32) and receiving yards (451), is one of eight players listed as “out” on Wednesday night. He is dealing with an AC sprain suffered against Mississippi State and has not practiced since. Florida may have two of the best rookie receivers in college football, but DJ Lagway has only had three games with both Brown and Dallas Wilson on the field together.

The good news is that three starters — safety Jordan Castell, cornerback Cormani McClain and tight end Tony Livingston — are back after missing the last game; Livingston missed two games. The secondary needs Castell and McClain to have a chance against Georgia. Cornerback Devin Moore is also notably absent from the availability report after leaving the Mississippi State game with an injury.

Freshman running back Duke Clark is questionable this week, as is defensive back Javion Toombs. Clark stepped into the backup role behind Jadan Baugh when Ja’Kobi Jackson went down. KD Daniels would be next up if Clark cannot go. Jackson is one of the eight Gators already listed as out for this week. Daniels has 43 yards and a touchdown on seven carries over the past two games.

The SEC Availability Reporting Policy

“In accordance with the Student-Athlete Availability Reporting Policy, teams must submit initial reports on Wednesday by 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET for a Saturday game (or, for any non-Saturday game, three nights before the game by 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET) … and update the Availability Report once per day on Thursday and Friday (after the conclusion of practice and before 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET).”

Each player must receive one of four designations:

If a player is listed on any previous availability report for the upcoming game, teams must change the designation to available. The questionable designation is not allowed in the Game Day Update.
