For the first time in over a month, the FSU Seminoles have won a football game. Their 42-7 beatdown of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday night was a much-needed win that fired up the fans.
With the win, head coach Mike Norvell called on Duce Robinson to be the player to break the rock after the game to celebrate. He seemed like an easy choice, finishing the game with five receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown. Robinson had other plans, though, and called on center Luke Petitbon to swing the sledgehammer, saying “he deserved to break it way more” than himself.
Norvell praised Robinson after the game for the work he has done and believes he is just getting better.
“Just another guy that’s really coming into all that he can be. He’s a dominant player,” Norvell said. “Duce answered the call. Another guy that shows up, good day, bad day, whatever it is, you’re going to get all of him.”
Petitbon also had a great game, finishing as FSU’s third-highest graded offensive starter to PFF with a grade of 69.2, his best of the season against a Power Five opponent. He did not allow a single pressure in the game, as well as helping identify the Wake Forest defense and any pressures that were coming.
The move was a popular one, and the team erupted into cheers as Petitbon and Robinson both got to swing the sledgehammer and break the rock.
