VOTE: Volusia-Flagler Boys Athlete of the Week for Feb. 9-14 presented by Halifax Health

The polls are open!

It’s time to vote for the Halifax Health Volusia-Flagler Boys Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 9-14.

Last week, Seabreeze basketball player Jeremiah Outler captured the honors, claiming 88% of the votes. The junior led the Sandcrabs with 26 points, eight rebounds and eight blocks during a 70-69 triple-overtime win over Jones in the District 7-5A semifinals.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal gathers nominees for upcoming polls from across the area via email at cvinel@usatodayco.com. Please send a player’s name, school and notable statistics for a given week. Submissions are due no later than 8 a.m. every Monday.

To round out the ballot, our staff also picks athletes from scores and stats posted online or submitted by local coaches. Athletes for all in-season sports are eligible.

Voting in the online poll below will close at 10 a.m. Saturday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Emailed votes will not count.

Baseball

Brayden Kleibl, DeLand: The junior led the Bulldogs with 10 hits in 17 at-bats, scoring six runs and driving in three more.

Liam McKinley, Father Lopez: The sophomore went 4-for-5 with six RBIs in wins over University and Mainland.

Track and field

Drayton Brackett, Seabreeze: The senior sped to first place in the 400-meter hurdles, turning in a time of 1:00.06 at the Valentine Opener.

Michael London, Mainland: The junior won the shot put event at the Lake Mary Opening Classic, posting a total of 12.69 meters.

Jordan Theus-Vale, Matanzas: The senior won the discus crown (37.66 meters) at the Valentine Opener while also rankings third in the shot put and seventh in the javelin.
