ORLANDO — October is here. And since joining the Big 12 Conference, that’s meant struggles for the UCF Knights. They are 0-7 in the month since becoming members of the league at the beginning of 2023. That streak could end tonight, though, against the same team that started it — the Kansas Jayhawks.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. inside the Acrisure Bounce House. The Week 6 game will air on ESPN2. Both squads are looking to rebound from losses last weekend. Kansas (3-2) fell to Cincinnati in a 37-34 shootout. The Jayhawks are led by sixth-year quarterback Jalon Daniels, who spearheads an offense averaging nearly 37 points per contest.
UCF (3-1) kicked off the year 3-0 before suffering its first defeat at Kansas State last week. Before that, the Knights had claimed their previous 16 games under head coach Scott Frost, dating back to 2016.

Wet, windy weather at UCF ahead of team arrivals
For the third time in four home games, rain is falling at the Acrisure Bounce House prior to kickoff.
The National Weather Service forecasted a 50% chance of afternoon showers with wind gusts as high as 25 mph. Odds drop down to 30% at nightfall, ahead of a 7:30 p.m. start time between UCF and Kansas.

Who is starting for UCF football at quarterback?
Tayven Jackson injured the AC joint in his throwing shoulder last week at Kansas State, but he was not on the injury report, making him the likely starter tonight. Jacurri Brown also injured his shoulder last week, while Cam Fancher hasn’t played since injuring his back in the season opener.
