It’s become a staple of big events, such as the Super Bowl and College Football Playoffs to have a “Fan Fest” before or on the day of the big event.
Why not golf?
The Players Championship will hold a “Fan Weekend” March 6-8, the weekend before the tournament begins at the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, with an array of activities at the Stadium Village adjacent to the general parking lot off Country Road 210.
The area will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with free parking and free admission. Fans also do not need to have purchased Players Championship tickets to attend.
The Players has held sneak previews of the PGA Tour Fan Shop and had limited food options on the weekend before the tournament in the past. But the weekend is offering expanded activities this year:
Activities include career day, job fair
Other activities on Fan Weekend will be “Tee Up Your Future: Career Day at The Players on March 6, a Military Job Fair on March 7 and Operation Shower on May 8.
The career day, in which The Players will host 100 area high school students, will be held at the PGA Tour Global headquarters from 3-5 p.m. The guest speaker will be former tennis pro and community advocate MaliVai Washington, with panel discussions, networking opportunities and interactive breakout activities highlighting career pathways in sports and beyond.
The Job Fair, free to military personnel, veterans and their spouses, will be at the Patriots Outpost along the 16th fairway of the Stadium Course from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nearly 30 companies will be on-site discuss employment opportunities.
Operation Shower, at the Patriots Outpost, will be a baby shower for area military mothers-to-be.
The Players Championship is March 12-15 at the Stadium Course. Military Appreciation Day and the Ludacris concert will be March 10, with practice rounds open to the public that day and on March 11. Tickets are available at theplayers.com/tickets.
