Florida State football is back on the recruiting trail, and well into June, their pursuit of top prospects never stops.
Earnest Rankings, a four-star defensive lineman from Southwest DeKalb High School (GA) took an official visit to Florida State over the weekend, and he had some positive words for the program at large.
Ranked as the 17th best defensive lineman and the ninth best player from Georgia by Rivals, Rankins described his visit as to the Osceola as “eye-opening.” He elaborated that “Florida State [has] very high energy. I like it.”
Being recruited by the defensive line coach, Terrence Knighton gave him time to see how his career with the Seminoles could go, and they did this by reviewing footage together. “We sat in a film session for like an hour,” he said. Knighton gave him tips on how he could improve his technique, reportedly.
After visiting Florida State this past weekend, Rankins has visits planned to see the Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, and Georgia Bulldogs. Though it should be noted that Rankings said “Florida State [is] definitely in my top four. I’ve been around all the teams, a couple of times, the players, and it’s something that stands out.”
Rankins will announce his commitment in early July.
