A second person has been arrested in connection with the ongoing homicide investigation at the Cash Out Gold & Silver shop, according to Fort Pierce police officials.
Tylen Ryan, 22, of Vero Beach was arrested May 5 by the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Indian River County and charged with tampering with evidence, according to officials. Ryan was taken to the Indian River County Jail before being transferred to the St. Lucie County Jail on May 7.
Ryan was determined to be a person of interest after the April 28 shooting death of 35-year-old Lanessa Rodriguez inside the shop at 4603 S. U.S. 1.
Landen Ballard, 20, of Vero Beach, who was accused of shooting Rodriguez, was arrested on murder, obstruction of justice and probation violation charges.
The details of Rodriguez’s slaying were revealed in court records released April 30 from a description of video surveillance.
On April 28, Ballard sat across from the Rodriguez inside Cash Out Gold and Silver, and they started talking as if they knew each other, according to records.
Ballard pulled a firearm from his hip but held it out of view of the woman, whom Fort Pierce police identified as Lazaro Rodriguez Vega but friends identified as Lanessa Rodriguez.
Within minutes, Ballard shot Rodriguez once in the left shoulder, then fired six more times until the magazine of his firearm was empty, leaving Rodriguez for dead.
