More than 1,300 runners, families, friends, and community partners turned out recently for the Education Foundation of Sarasota County’s third annual Ringling Bridge Run, a 5K/10K and Fun Run held at The Bay Park.
The event uniting the community to support students and teachers was presented by sponsor Lexus Sarasota. At sunrise, participants in the 10K and 5K crossed the iconic Ringling Bridge.
“The Ringling Bridge symbolizes connection to our community, which is paramount in supporting public education, especially our students and teachers,” said Jennifer Vigne, president and CEO. “We are so grateful to our returning presenting sponsor, Lexus Sarasota, our Gold Sponsors Gilbane Construction and Golf Therapy Club and to all the other organizations and individuals who made this amazing day possible.”
The opening ceremony featured the Glen Allen Elementary School Melody Makers singing the national anthem, followed by the 10K and 5K. A free Fun Run was part of the Suncoast Remake Learning Days to promote connection, resiliency, and well-being.
Along the course, the Sarasota High School Drumline, Booker High School’s Modern Band, and the Riverview Kiltie Band brought music, beats, and school spirit, to help energize runners to cross the finish line.
Elite Rewards recognized the Sarasota County public or charter school with the largest team presence (relative to their school’s enrollment). This year’s top honor went to Tuttle Elementary with 31 runners. Each adult team member received a $100 gift card in celebration of their outstanding turnout.
Proceeds benefit the Education Foundation of Sarasota County, a nonprofit that supports public school teachers and students with programs that prepare students to get ready and go further. For more information, visit EdFoundationSRQ.org.
