Coming out of the NFL league meetings, ESPN’s Michael DiRocco is reporting that the Jacksonville Jaguars have had contract extension talks with three of their players.
DiRocco says that “preliminary discussions” about contract extensions have been had with Travon Walker, Brenton Strange, and Parker Washington.
Walker is playing out the 2026 season on a fifth-year option currently, while Strange and Washington are entering the final year of their rookie deals.
“General manager James Gladstone is optimistic about the chances of extending them this offseason, saying the Jaguars are ‘probably within striking distance to see things come to light,'” DiRocco wrote.
Travon Walker
Walker appeared in just 14 games last season, making only 12 starts due to injuries, so naturally, he wasn’t as productive, logging 44 pressures with 3.5 sacks. But in the two years prior, Walker tallied 56 pressures in 2024 and 59 pressures in 2023. He reached double-digit sacks each year as well. In both seasons, he was top 25 among all edge rushers in total pressures, per PFF.
Not to be overlooked, either, is the well-rounded skill set Walker brings to the defensive end position with his contributions in the run game.
Parker Washington
As the 2025 season progressed, Washington saw his opportunities increase. And from there, he became a go-to target for Lawrence, and by the end of the season, he was one of the most productive receivers in football.
Washington would lead the Jaguars in receiving this past season, totaling 954 receiving yards. This included Washington eclipsing the 100-yard mark in three of the Jaguars’ final four games.
Brenton Strange
Strange was a reliable target in the passing game and totaled 549 receiving yards with three touchdowns. However, his do-it-all presence as a blocker and someone who can line up across the formation helped expand the call sheet for Liam Coen and add some unpredictability to the offense.
