The FSU Seminoles have struggled to hold onto their recruits during the Mike Norvell era, consistently landing commitments from top targets who wind up flipping to other programs. That has already happened eight times during the 2026 recruiting cycle, and one expert believes it could happen again.
Three-star linebacker Karon Maycock has been committed to the Seminoles since February, and even said his recruitment was shut down prior to the season. But that has changed, and he took an official visit to see the Texas Longhorns on Nov. 1, attending their game against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Longhorns seemingly took the momentum in his recruitment, and Marcus Benjamon of Rivals has placed him on flip watch. While the Seminoles have struggled during the 2025 season and Norvell is on the hot seat, Texas is 7-2 and in the mix to make the College Football Playoff for the third straight season.
Maycock is ranked as the No. 653 overall player and No. 53 linebacker in the Rivals industry ranking. The Miami native is also the No. 80 player from Florida.
The Seminoles currently have three linebackers committed in their 2026 recruiting class: Maycock, four-star Izayia Williams, and three-star Noah LaVallee. They also have a commitment from Daylen Green, who could play safety or linebacker for them.
