After no one matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Sept. 3 Powerball drawing, the grand prize jumped into record territory for the next drawing Saturday, Sept. 6.
Estimated jackpot for the Sept. 6 drawing is now $1.70 billion with a $770.3 million one-time lump-sum option.

Though there was no perfect match, there were several secondary winners. Four tickets purchased in Michigan, Oregon, Texas and Wyoming matched five numbers plus the Power Play to win $2 million, and 11 tickets from these states matched five numbers to win $1 million: two in California, two in Georgia, a ticket in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The Florida Lottery does not offer the sale of lottery tickets by mail, fax or via the Internet.
“Tickets must be purchased from any of the more than 13,000 authorized Florida Lottery retailers in the state of Florida,” the agency said on its website.

How do you play Powerball?
Select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, then select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball.

How long do you have to cash in a winning Florida Lottery ticket?
Prizes for Florida Lottery must be claimed within 180 days (or six months) from the date of the drawing. To claim a single-payment cash option, a winner has 60 days after the draw date to claim it.
The Florida Lottery said its scratch-off tickets and Fast Play game prizes “must be claimed within 60 days of the official end-of-game date. Once the applicable time period has elapsed, the related Florida Lottery ticket will expire.”
Can Florida Lottery winners remain anonymous?
According to Florida Lottery’s website, winners cannot remain anonymous: “Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner’s name, city of residence; game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information.”
However, the site states, the “names of lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner.”
Lottery experts and lawyers have said there are ways to remain anonymous if you win.
