Police looking for cars involved in DeLand hit-and-run that killed Deltona man

A pedestrian was killed in DeLand around midnight Oct. 19 when a vehicle struck him, knocking him down in the street. As a result, multiple cars continued to run him over, Florida Highway Patrol said in a release.

The 51-year-old Deltona man was not in a marked crosswalk as he walked north across the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 92 east of Calle Alto Vista. The first car hit him with the driver’s side mirror and fled the scene. The rest of the cars also continued west on U.S. 92, FHP said.
