The Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Hunter was nominated as one of the NFL’s Rookie of the Week candidates for his Week 5 performance.
On both offense and defense for the Jaguars, Hunter was a top-five graded player by Pro Football Focus.
Defensively, Hunter would play 25 of the team’s 68 defensive snaps. He would make two tackles, while in coverage, Hunter was targeted three times, allowing one reception for seven yards.
Then, over at wide receiver, Hunter was on the field for 35 of the Jaguars’ 58 offensive snaps. He caught all three of his passes, totaling 64 yards.
On two of those receptions, we saw Hunter’s YAC ability on display with the way he’s able to make defenders miss.
On the other reception, Hunter showcased his ball skills, adjusting to a downfield throw from Trevor Lawrence and then making the contested catch. The 44-yard catch is the longest of Hunter’s career.
Along with Hunter, Jaxson Dart, Dillon Gabriel, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Emeka Egbuka, and Jonas Sanker were also nominated for this weekly award.
