Jacksonville Jaguars pass rusher Josh Hines-Allen joined the Rich Eisen Show to discuss all things Jaguars recently.
Hines-Allen joined the studio to talk with Rich Eisen about rookie teammate Travis Hunter, the new coaches of the Jaguars, and even hyperbolic time chambers for recovery.
Here were the three best topics:
Josh Hines-Allen gives insight to Travis Hunter’s viral practice interception
From the moment the Jaguars traded for Travis Hunter, it was known he’d make highlights for the team. It just wasn’t assumed he’d make highlights this soon.
Hunter made an athletic interception during offseason workouts that made the rounds on social media.
Hines-Allen shed some light on how the play happened.
“You see the viral clip he said, I came up to coach [Liam Coen] and said, ‘Throw him the ball, we’re trying to see what he can do.'”
Hunter did in fact make a play, which is why the sideline reacted the way they did.
Josh Hines-Allen gives insight to new coaching staff
Hines-Allen is a fan of Jacksonville’s new coaching staff. He gave them credit for the way they’ve handled the transition and put perspective on how Liam Coen operates.
He said the message from Coen is competition. He said he has to compete everyday for his job.
He also had a message to former head coach Doug Pederson.
“Hopefully this is the right go-round,” Hines-Allen said. “I’m going to go out there and do the best I can to play for Coach Liam. … I love Coach Pederson, he was awesome. I wish him nothing but the best.”
Josh Hines-Allen sets eyes on breaking Jaguars franchise sack record
Hines-Allen knows he’s three sacks off the franchise record. It’s at the front of his mind as he enters the season.
“I know when I’m healthy and I’m in the right position every time,” Hines-Allen said. “I know I can be the best defensive player in the National Football League.”
He split time with others under the last coaching regime and played at a heavier weight. He’s since dropped the weight and will likely be a full-time starter for the Jaguars.
Hines-Allen hopes that he’ll be able to contribute sacks to his team as the Jaguars try to turn around their program this season.
