Heading into the 2025 NFL season, what is next for Jacksonville Jaguars’ returning offensive tackles Walker Little and Anton Harrison?
This was a question that offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett was asked recently.
“It’s to solidify the position,” Sarrett said. “Whatever position he (Little) ends up at, to solidify it and go in there and be a 17-game starter for multiple years. And that’s what we see in him and Anton (Harrison). They’re both capable of going to either spot and they’re both capable of starting 17 games for us and going into the playoffs and playing these big games.”
Over 316 pass-blocking snaps, Little allowed two sacks and 13 pressures last season. Compared to his position group league-wide, Little ranked 18th in PFF’s pass-blocking efficiency metric and 27th out of 76 tackles in run-blocking grade.
Former GM Trent Baalke would sign Little to an extension in early December that was for three years and worth $40.5 million.
However, as Sarrett alluded to, Little hasn’t played a full 17-game season yet, making 25 starts over his four NFL seasons, including eight starts in 2024.
Harrison has been a two-year starter for the Jaguars, playing in 33 out of a possible 34 games. Last season, Harrison allowed four sacks and 31 pressures over 582 pass-blocking snaps.
Compared to the rest of his position group, Harrison ranked 35th in pass-blocking efficiency, and he was 61st in PFF’s run-blocking grade, for what it’s worth.
This offseason, we saw GM James Gladston heavily add to the offensive line unit, which included signing free agent tackles Fred Johnson and Chuma Edoga. Gladstone also brought back restricted free agent Cole Van Lanen.
With six new additions up front this offseason–between free agency and the NFL draft–and a lot more versatility, the Jaguars have been embracing competition along the offensive line during OTAs. While we don’t know the exact configurations that have been on the practice field, it’s been reported that there has been a lot of movement.
“From a communication standpoint, all five being on the same page, you can definitely see an intent behind what they’re trying to do,” Coen said after a recent OTA practice. “I think Shaun (Sarrett), and Keli’i (Kekuewa), and Trevor (Mendelson) have done a really nice job in that room, and I think the players have caught on in a lot of ways.”
