The taco gods have spoken: Not only is it National Taco Day but it’s Taco Tuesday as well.
In American gastronomic culture, the taco reigns supreme, with nearly a quarter of all restaurants offering some form of tacos on their menu, according to TacoTuesday.com.
But the type of taco has evolved from the Taco Bell version popularized in the 1960s. (No offense to Taco Bell fans, of course — who doesn’t love a good old OG hard shell filled with ground beef, cheese, lettuce and tomato sometimes?) Hard shell or soft? Corn or flour? Baja or birria? Fish or meat?
Whichever way you like ’em best, you can find ’em — especially today. Here’s a sampling of some of the specials advertised by local eateries, as well as the style of tacos they serve, in honor of National Taco Day.
