The FSU Seminoles revamped both sides of the line of scrimmage through the transfer portal and one of their key additions was defensive end Jayson Jenkins, who spent the past three seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers.
He was one of four defensive linemen they signed in the transfer portal and is competing for a starting spot. Unfortunately, he missed all of spring practice with an injury but head coach Mike Norvell is confident in his rehab process.
“We’ll see,” Norvell told Noles247 at the ACC Spring Meetings. “That’s going to be something that – he is progressing really well in his rehab. I haven’t really gotten into what that was. I’m not going to. To say he’s ahead of schedule, I feel very good about where he is.
“Excited to see where that goes throughout the course of the summer, fall camp and then we’ll see where he’s at.”
Jenkins was ranked as the No. 135 player and No. 19 defensive lineman in the portal by 247Sports. The Lawrenceville, New Jersey, product is one of eight four-star prospects the Seminoles signed.
He redshirted in 2022 and will have two seasons of eligibility with the Seminoles. He has improved his production and taken on a bigger role each season, finishing his Tennessee career with 15 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, and one forced fumble.
