Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University asked students to shelter in place for several hours after learning of a potential threat, but after a late-night investigation by Campus Safety and law enforcement, the school was declared safe.
“After a thorough search, no credible threat was found. Campus operations have resumed, and all students and employees are safe,” read a university statement issued just after 2 a.m. “An investigation into this incident continues.”
The threat was reported at the Mori Hosseini Student Union on the evening of Feb. 17, according to an ERAU post at 9:49 p.m.
Daytona Beach police and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation and emergency response.
“We offer our sincere thanks to all emergency responders and the Daytona Beach Police Department for their immediate action and support,” the university statement reads.
