After two major hurricanes hit Florida in 2024, just weeks apart, it left millions of dollars of damage in the wake of its path. The destruction ranged from flooded houses and structural damage to boats torn from their dock posts, even tossing some ashore.
Lee and Collier counties were not spared from these storms. Both received significant damage. Two years prior, in 2022, Southwest Florida suffered $112 billion in damage when Hurricane Ian hit. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, it was the costliest hurricane to affect the state to date.

With many Southwest Florida residents avid boaters, and others living in boating communities along the coast, Sea Tow Services International has created this list of tips boaters can during hurricane season.
