The Florida State Seminoles might not have played a game this week, but they still saw their ranking improve three spots in the AP Top 25 Poll after Week 3 of the college football season.
Since defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide 31-17 and demolishing the FCS East Texas A&M Lions, the Seminoles have risen in the AP Top 25 poll every week. From unranked, to No. 14, to No. 10, and now, to No. 7.
The two teams sandwiched between them this week are the No. 6 Oregon Ducks, who last year played in the College Football Playoff, and the No. 8 Texas Longhorns, who were also playoff-caliber. Florida State is now up to 1,123 points, but has no first-place votes. They are also the only team inside the top 10 that is 2-0.
Additionally, Miami is now up to No. 4 after taking down then No. 18 South Florida, which has now fallen to the “others receiving votes” category. Clemson has also fallen to this level after an upset by Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets have risen to the No. 18 spot.
Only three ACC teams are inside the top 25, but Louisville, Clemson, SMU, and NC State are in the others receiving votes category.
Florida State will look to continue the climb when it welcomes the Kent State Golden Flashes to Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Sept. 20 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
