Grilling for Heroes
One Senior Place, a marketplace for resources and provider of information, advice, care and on-site services for seniors and their families, hosts a robust calendar of events usually focused on folks with a few years under the belts, but the “Grilling for Heroes” event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 25, embraces both young and old. The event honors those essential pillars of the community: present and past first responders, nurses and educators.
Sponsored by Rhodes Law, P.A., the outdoor event at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road in Viera will include several grilling stations with summertime favorites like sliders, hotdogs and more. Ice cold lemonade or water from the hydration station will satisfy thirsty attendees, with indoor A/C and cooling stations available.
Grilling stations are sponsored by Zon Beachside, The Brennity and YourLife of West Melbourne, the ice cream truck by Estate Planning & Elder Law Center of Brevard, face painting station by Senior Partner Care Services, hydration station by One Senior Place Care Management and lemonade stand by Viera Insurance Professionals.
Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Brevard County Fire Rescue will be onsite with their most popular emergency vehicles, with a special guest expected from the BCSO. Kids of all ages can get their faces painted, indulge their sweet tooth with cotton candy or choose a cold treat from the ice cream truck.
Deejay Benny will keep the music going throughout the event. And don’t be surprised if you notice some really long legs, since a stilt walker will be traversing the crowd. The water play area is sure to be a hit with the youngsters, with an inflatable obstacle course, water slide and splash zone. Children are welcome to wear tee shirts or swimwear from their favorite superheroes.
“We have so much fun planned for the whole family,” said OSP director Angie Higgins. “Bring the kids, the grandkids and shake the hand of someone who chose a life of service to help others.”

‘Murder on Route 66’
Trouble is brewing once again at America’s legendary highway as volunteers of Green Gables invite the public for an encore performance of “Murder on Route 66,” a murder mystery dinner.
The mystery happens at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at the Italian American Club of South Brevard, 1471 Cypress Avenue, Melbourne.
“We offer you a night of intrigue and fun as you use your detective skills to guess who dunnit,” said Green Gables spokesperson Sue Fallon.
In addition to exercising little gray cells in a game of deduction, attendees will enjoy a meal of spaghetti and meatballs, sale, bread, dessert and iced tea or coffee. A cash bar is available.
For extra vintage fun, guests are invited to channel their inner Tod Stiles or Buz Murdock from the iconic television show “Route 66,” and dress for the 1960s.
Seating is limited, so purchase tickets early. Cost is $40 per ticket.

NY Rockets
If the music of Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Bill Haley & his Comets, Chuck Berry and more legendary performers quench your thirst for timeless tunes, Merritt Island Moose Lodge 2073 has the show for you.
At 7 p.m., Saturday, July 25, the NY Rockets , one of Florida’s premier rockabilly, ’50 and ’60s show bands, will be at the Lodge to unveil their all new “Good Rockin’ Tonight” high octane concert oldie hits.
Allengang Entertainment is orchestrating the concert, which features the Rockets will channeling legends like Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Bill Haley & his Comets, Eddie Arnold, the Stray Cats, Dion, Del Shannon, Bobby Vee, Chuck Berry, the Ronettes, and many more in a dynamic Vegas-style show that brings the music of yesteryear roaring back to life with Broadway stage sets, lights, sound, special effects, extravagant wardrobe changes, and the music as only the NY Rockets can play it.
“This group is performing a fantastic new show,” said Allengang CEO Stan Allen. “It’s 90 minutes of pure Vegas-style energy with songs that never go out of style.”
Originally formed on Long Island, New York, the NY Rockets now dazzles Florida audiences with their unique twist on the roots of rock and roll, rockabilly, swing, blues, country, and surf rock music.
Seating is at round tables of eight persons. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Popular pub fare and beverages are available for purchase at the full liquor bar. Christmas in July
The weather outside is frightfully hot, but inside the Greater Palm Bay Senior Activity Center is it delightfully cool, particularly during the “Christmas in July Vendor Fair” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 26.

Grumman C-2 Greyhound flight
Valiant Air Command has announced the upcoming arrival of a U.S. Navy Grumman C-2 Greyhound, scheduled to fly into Titusville’s Space Coast Regional Airport on July 27, 2026, before taking its place in the Warbird Museum’s collection of historic military aircraft.
The aircraft, assigned to Fleet Logistics Support Squadron FOUR ZERO (VRC-40) “Rawhides,” will arrive under its own power, providing aviation enthusiasts with a rare opportunity to witness the final flight of an aircraft that served as a vital link between aircraft carriers and shore-based logistics operations.
The Grumman C-2 Greyhound served for decades as the U.S. Navy’s primary Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) aircraft. Designed to transport personnel, mail, cargo, and mission-critical supplies to aircraft carriers operating around the globe, the C-2 became an indispensable part of naval aviation and fleet operations.
The arrival marks another significant addition to the Valiant Air Command collection and further strengthens the museum’s mission of preserving military aviation history for future generations.
