Some say everything’s bigger in Texas, a sentiment that also rings true for Buc-ee’s.
Days after rumors circulated that a new Buc-ee’s location in St. Lucie, Florida, slated to open in September 2027, would be the its “largest” convenience store and gas station to date, the Lake Jackson, Texas-based company decided to set the record straight.
“Contrary to recent reporting that the proposed project in St. Lucie, FL will be our largest store, Luling Texas is, and will remain, the largest Buc-ee’s Travel Center in our fleet!” Stan Beard, director of real estate for Buc-ee’s, said in a Jan. 20 statement.

“Planning departments throughout the country have different parameters for reporting building sizes in official planning documents,” Beard added. “This is an example of that confusion.”
According to TCPalm, part of the USA TODAY Network, the St. Lucie County location will boast 120 fuel pumps and measure 76,245 square feet.
Erick Gill, a county spokesperson, told TCPalm that Buc-ees last submitted updates to those plans in October.
How big is the largest Buc-ee’s?
The Buc-ee’s in Luling, Texas, dubbed “the largest Buc-ee’s location in the country,” spreads over 75,000 square feet, according to previous USA TODAY reporting. It also boasts 120 fueling stations.
In terms of proposed square footage, the future St. Lucie, Florida, location appears to be slightly larger by at least a couple of hundred square feet. However, Buc-ee’s is adamant that the Luling, Texas, location is and will continue to be the “largest” in its existing fleet.
“What remains consistent will always be our clean restrooms, friendly staff, and great brisket sandwiches,” Beard said.
Buc-ee’s locations opening in 2026 and beyond
Three new Buc-ee’s locations, including one in Arizona, another in Ohio and one in Texas, are slated to open in 2026:
