A boat flipped, sending four people in the waters the Caloosahatchee River off Cape Coral, leaving one dead and one missing Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said they, Cape Coral Police Department, Cape Coral Fire Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Lee County EMS responded.
FWC officials said preliminary information indicates that a single vessel with four occupants onboard, was traveling on the river near the Cape Coral Yacht Club when an incident occurred.
They said the boat was a MTI 390 racing-style vessel
The day’s temperature had reached 79 degrees in Cape Coral, weather services report, with gusts of up to 18 mph. The sun set at 5:34 p.m., minutes after the 5 p.m. crash.
Three of the occupants of the vessel were taken to a hospital where one of them was declared dead, FWC reported.
The fourth person remained missing at 9 p.m.
FWC said the emergency rescue officials continue to search for the person.
FWC will provide updates when the agency is able to, it said.
