1 killed, 1 injured in Volusia County crash near Mims, troopers say

One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash in Mims on June 9, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The accident occurred around 6:31 a.m. at State Road 46 and Morgan Alderman Road, troopers said.

The sequence of events that led to this crash are still under investigation, said FHP Lt. Tara Crescenzi.

S.R. 46 was closed in both directions as accident investigated

The crash involved a 2026 Ford Explorer and 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. The driver of the Ford Explorer was not injured and remained at the scene of the crash, Crescenzi said.

The driver of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander died at the scene of the crash. A passenger in the Mitsubishi was seriously injured and transported to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford, troopers said.

The wreck closed both lanes of State Road 46 from South Jungle Road to Hatbill Road as traffic homicide investigators conducted their investigation, Crescenzi said.
