Thursday marked the start of the on-field public workouts at the 2026 NFL combine. This year, USC has seven players participating.
One of those players is linebacker Eric Gentry. In his measurements on Thursday, Gentry came in at 6 feet, 6 5/8 inches and had an 86 1/4 inch wingspan. Per the league, both of those numbers are the highest for a linebacker since 2003.

Gentry’s physical build is certainly not conventional for a linebacker. It will be interesting to see how NFL teams view him and what role he is projected to play at the next level.
Joining Gentry in Indianapolis are wide receivers Makai Lemon and Ja’Kobi Lane, safeties Bishop Fitzgerald and Kamari Ramsey, tight end Lake McRee, and defensive lineman Anthony Lucas. All seven players seek to improve their respective draft stocks with strong performances over the next few days.
Linebackers and defensive linemen were a part of Thursday’s group, which meant we watched Gentry and Lucas participate. Tight ends and defensive backs will both have their drills and measurements on Friday, so McRee, Fitzgerald, and Ramsey are up next.
