California Highway Patrol officers tracked down and arrested three suspects in Devore who were wanted in connection with the fatal Central Valley shooting of a 17-year-old boy late last month, authorities said.
The bust took place shorty after 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, after the suspected were spotted driving down the 15 Freeway through San Bernardino County, according to Hanford Police Department and CHP officials.
Police had been seeking them in connection with the shooting, which took place about 10:20 a.m. at the Casa Del Sol Apartments, 12184 W. Hanford Armona Road in Hanford, Hanford police officials said. The deadly attack claimed the life of 17-year-old Ayden Anthony Wyatt.
“After investigators received information that the suspects were traveling south on Interstate 15, CHP – Inland Division Crime Suppression Team officers coordinated with CHP Air Operations and local CHP units to locate the vehicle in San Bernardino County,” according to a Hanford PD statement.
The vehicle was stopped in the area of the interchange between the 15 and 215 freeways, aerial footage provided by the CHP shows.
“With assistance from air and K-9 units, officers conducted a safe enforcement stop and took all three suspects into custody,” the statement said. “Officers also recovered a firearm believed to be connected to the homicide.”
One of the suspects ran from the vehicle but was quickly chased down and apprehended, officials added.
Famous Hinton, 19, and Pasha Kani Evins, 23, were arrested on suspicion of murder and criminal conspiracy, Kings County booking records show. Evins was additionally accused of firing a firearm from a vehicle, acting as an accessory after the fact and violating the terms of felony probation stemming from a prior conviction.
Elise Marie Hernandez, 25, was arrested on suspicion of acting as an accessory after the fact and soliciting or engaging in prostitution, records show.
All three suspects were being held without bail pending legal proceedings.
