San Joaquin Delta College’s Stockton campus closed at 5 p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed all day Thursday after heat became unavailable in most campus buildings, college officials said.

The closure comes as rain moves through Stockton Thursday morning, with highs near 51 degrees and south winds of 11 to 13 mph, gusting up to 26 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The shutdown affects all events, programs and services at the campus, except athletics events, which will continue as scheduled.
It is the third time since January that heat has been unavailable in most campus buildings. During an earlier outage reported Jan. 23, officials said a leak in the Stockton campus’s hydronic heating lines was to blame.
Officials said they do not have a confirmed timeline for restoration. They identified a new leak in an underground pipe. A repair company is expected to assess the situation Thursday.
Faculty were instructed to move classes online if possible and to email students directly. Employees who can work from home were expected to do so Thursday.
The college said it will provide another update when more information is available about operations after Thursday.
