The Los Angeles Rams switched things up on special teams in Week 10 swapping out their long snapper and kicker after some recent struggles. Alex Ward and Joshua Karty were both benched, giving way to Jake McQuaide and Harrison Mevis, respectively.
Though Sean McVay didn’t say those were permanent changes, the Rams aren’t turning back to Ward anytime soon – if at all. On Monday, the team waived Ward from the team and signed McQuaide from the practice squad to the active roster.
McQuaide was a temporary practice squad elevation in Week 10 but now that he’s on the 53-man roster, the Rams won’t need to elevate him anymore, like they will with Mevis – assuming they stick with their new kicker moving forward.
Ward joined the Rams as an undrafted rookie in 2023, signing with Los Angeles out of UCF. He played every game since then but is now looking for a new team, unless the Rams sign him to the practice squad.
