Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
Troy Brown Jr., a 6-foot-7 forward, signed with the Lakers as a free agent during the summer of 2022. A first-round draft pick in 2018, he had been mostly a bench player in his first four seasons in the NBA, and with the Lakers, he seemed to take at least half a step forward.
During his lone season with Los Angeles, he averaged 7.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 24.5 minutes a game and shot 38.1% from 3-point range while starting in 45 of his 76 games. Brown spent the following season with the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves, and last season, he was with Manisa Basket of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the Cangrejeros de Santurce of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN).
