Summer is over, and it’s time to get back to work for the Los Angeles Lakers. They begin their 2025-26 preseason schedule on Friday evening against the Phoenix Suns, and if you’re wondering how you can watch all the action live, you’ve come to the right place.
The Lakers went through multiple changes and some off the court drama last season, yet they finished third in the Western Conference with a 50-32 record. They seemed to have a puncher’s chance at reaching the NBA Finals, but they were shoved out of the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.
The Timberwolves exposed L.A.’s huge hole at the center position and lack of rebounding, but the team looks stronger on paper than it did in May. Deandre Ayton is a significant upgrade at the starting center spot over Jaxson Hayes, who is now a backup, and Marcus Smart, the 2021-22 Defensive Player of the Year, should add grittiness and resourcefulness. This will be Luka Doncic’s first full season with the Lakers, and he got into fantastic shape over the summer.
The Suns also look a lot different than they did in the spring. Future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant is now with the Houston Rockets, and star guard Bradley Beal joined the Los Angeles Clippers. But gunslinging shooting guard Devin Booker is still around, and he will look to keep Phoenix competitive.
