After final electrical connections were made, activity surrounding the unopened Hobby Lobby, Marshall’s and Five Below in Apple Valley has intensified.
Construction of the retail property near Bear Valley Road and Westmont Drive was completed earlier this year, with each store mostly sitting empty until April, when Southern California Edison arrived and completed work.
Over the last two weeks, more workers have been seen inside the empty Marshalls’ and Five Below located at the Apple Valley Towne Center.
Opening soon, now hiring
This week, residents began receiving Hobby Lobby mailers that read, “Opening Soon Apple Valley,” while boasting stores carrying over 80,000 products, its mobile app, email list, social media connections and career opportunities.
Also, several “Join our Team!” signs were recently posted at the still-vacant Hobby Lobby behind El Pollo Loco.
The Hobby Lobby signs announced the hiring of seasonal and temporary employees, with pay between $16.90 to $17.90 an hour, for store setup at the new Apple Valley location.
The poster also mentions an employee discount and the opportunity for full and part-time positions.
The poster mentions floral, crafts, art, custom frames, hobbies, fabric, home decor, seasonal and cashiers.
How to apply for a job at Hobby Lobby
The poster said applications will be accepted at the Apple Valley Hobby Lobby from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. between May 18 and May 22. The store is located at 19382 Bear Valley Road.
The poster includes a QR code to apply, or you can apply online at careers.hobbylobby.com.
The curious stop by Hobby Lobby
On Thursday, over a dozen vehicles drove slowly past the Hobby Lobby, with some stopping to peek through the windows and to read the now hiring poster.
The curious arrived at the location, while a bright yellow sign posted at the parking lot’s south entrance read, “Warning Keep Out.”
At one point, a security guard emerged from behind the building to move orange traffic delineators in the parking lot.
The fully landscaped center includes several ChargePoint EV charging stations.
In April, Town of Apple Valley spokesperson Sarah Krieg told the Daily Press that the retail center was currently awaiting final utility connections to bring power to the site.
Krieg added that once power is established, the tenants can proceed with opening.
Management has not released information on opening dates for the three stores. The stores were originally expected to open in early 2026, according to the town.
