Analyst predicts if Chargers will re-sign Khalil Mack

The Chargers are predicted to re-sign edge rusher Khalil Mack this offseason, according to NFL analyst Jeremy Fowler.

“The Chargers have been year-to-year with Mack, who turns 35 in February but is still a productive player. I believe they will try to bring him back on another one-year contract, similar to the $18 million deal he signed last spring. So, whether he stays could depend on whether another team offers him a better deal,” Fowler writes.

After another disappointing playoff performance from the Chargers, Mack revealed he was contemplating his future as a free agent this offseason.

“Not trying to make that decision right now like I’ve almost done before,” Mack said. “Trying to stay as present as possible, stay prayed up, make a decision based on how I’m feeling and how my family is feeling, the vibes.

“If the vibes are high, the decisions will be made. Just figuring it out day by day.”

How Did Khalil Mack Perform in 2025?

In 2025, Mack recorded 5.5 sacks, 19 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and 11 quarterback hits on the season. With his 5.5 sacks, Mack brought his career sack total up to 113.

Mack signed with the Chargers last March on a one-year deal, so he certainly won’t make any impulsive decisions. After 12 successful seasons in the NFL, he seems to be taking this time to decide what’s his next move, which could include running it back, signing with another contender, or hanging up the cleats.

Los Angeles initially acquired the six-time Pro Bowler via trade with the Bears in March 2022. We will find out in the coming month, when the free agency period opens up, whether he returns to Los Angeles for the 2026 season.
