Despite being one of the most dominant dynasties in NBA history, the Golden State Warriors are a team many enjoy seeing lose. Stephen Curry has led the Warriors to four championships and countless winning seasons; however, that means that fans have seen their teams fall short against Golden State far too many times. That would appear to be the case for Amen Thompson, who grew up as a LeBron James fan but watched the megastar fall short three out of four times during his tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
During a recent interview on “The Young Man and the Three,” Thompson explained that his fandom for James led him to hate the Warriors. He didn’t like seeing his favorite player lose multiple NBA Finals, Curry, and one of the most talented rosters in league history.
“I was a LeBron [James] fan, not going to lie,” Amen said. “I actually liked the Warriors until they had to start playing LeBron, and then I’m like, ‘OK, now I hate the Warriors.’
To make matters worse for Thompson, he recently got his own taste of what it’s like to lose to the Warriors in the postseason. He was part of Ime Udoka’s Houston Rockets rotation that fell to Golden State in seven games of the Western Conference Playoffs opening round.
Thompson will undoubtedly be looking for revenge in the coming season, as the Rockets, who recently acquired Kevin Durant (among others) will look to make a push in the West and challenge for a championship next season.
