St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office arrests two people in connection to Matthew Maison case

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office has announced two arrests in the case of three-year-old Matthew Maison, a Port Huron Township boy whose death seven years ago was determined to be a homicide.

On Friday, April 11, 2025, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Detectives brought a man and woman into custody in relation to the death of Matthew Maison, with the arrests coming after significant recent developments.

Names and details are being withheld pending arraignment, but both subjects are currently being held at the St. Clair County Detention and Intervention Center, having had bond denied.

The case began February 18, 2018, when the child was found unresponsive in bed by babysitters. Several interviews by neighbors and others indicated possible mistreatment and neglect happening to the child for some time before the tragic event.

However, there had been no arrests made up until last Friday’s announcement.
