On Wednesday, April 9th the Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 Veterans Committee hosted our 7th free “Coffee & Donut Day at the Yale VA” in the Yale-VA Veterans Wellness room. The Lodge 343 volunteers enjoyed the company and shared stories with over 35 Veterans who enjoyed the free refreshments and pastries after they completed their medical appointments. As I’ve continued to mention, the Therapeutic Craft Kit table, and all that is donated and supplied, like the monthly (2) $25.00 free Gas Gift cards, the massage chair use, Donut Day at the VA, books & blankets in the wellness room ALL have been a huge hit with our Veterans.
On another note: The ENVSC and Lodge 343 continue our monthly (2) $25.00 free gas gift card “give-a-way” program now into our 3rd year. In March, the lucky local Veterans drawn were William Hitzelberger, US ARMY & Michael Hobgood, US Air Force. In April, the Veterans drawn were Robert Bieber, US Army & Paul Sprotberry, US Air Force (pictured) congratulations. Points of interest: The Port Huron Elks Lodge 343, and the Elks National Veterans Service Commission hosted our 3rd annual Veterans Appreciation Day & FREE Luncheon on Wednesday, May 28th from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. Then on Wednesday, June 11th from 8:30 am to 12-noon we will host our 8th free “Coffee & Donut Day at the Yale VA” in the Yale-VA Veterans Wellness room. These events are sponsored by ENVSC, Lodge 343, and the Yale VA. This is our way to say thank you, to our Veterans, active Military and first responders for their service.
