The Lansing area will see a warm, rainy Thursday, March 5, and the spring-like weather is expected to persist into the weekend, but the “false spring” likely won’t last long.
“Highs limited to the 40s today with rain much of the day (March 5). A warm front brings much warmer air for Fri (March 6) and Sat (March 7) with highs in the 60s,” the Detroit National Weather Service said on X on March 5. “This warmer air also comes with more rain showers and chances of thunderstorms late Friday into Saturday morning.”

Rain is possible in the Lansing area through Saturday, and highs will reach nearly 70 by the weekend, the National Weather Service said.
Rain will develop in during afternoon hours Thursday in the Lansing area. By Friday morning, up to 0.6 of an inch of rain is expected in some areas of the Lower Peninsula, according to the NWS Probabilistic Precipitation Portal.
Showers are likely, mainly between noon and 4 p.m., the National Weather Service said. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy Thursday with a high near 44. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible across Lansing.
Thursday night, a chance of showers remains with a slight chance of drizzle through 1 a.m. Patchy fog is likely to develop after 8 p.m.
Friday brings another round of rain, and a chance of thunderstorms after 4 p.m. and through the evening. An additional quarter inch of rain is possible Friday in Greater Lansing.
Saturday will bring another chance of storms with a high up to 66 degrees.
Statewide, temperatures are forecast to range in the 30s-40s, with cities nearest the Ohio border seeing the warmest highs.

From Thursday morning, March 5, to Friday morning, March 6, the southern half of the Lower Peninsula is expected to see 0.01 to 0.6 of an inch of rain, according to the NWS Probabilistic Precipitation Portal.
