Two jam-packed days of pop culture, comic books, crafts and collectibles will welcome guests at this year’s Monroe Comic Con.
The annual event, hosted by Gary and Dawn Pillette, started in 2013. This year, more than 200 vendor and artist booths are scheduled along with a cosplay contest. The Monroe News asked Gary about the event, how it got its start and what readers will need to know if they go.
Where is this year’s Monroe Comic Con?
At the FMB Expo Center on the Monroe County Fair Grounds at 3775 S. Custer Road in Monroe, Michigan.
When is the Con?
Friday and Saturday, September 12-13, 2025
What are the show hours?
5-9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. VIP ticket holders get in at 9:30 a.m.
What is your bag policy?
Bags are allowed but are subject to be searched.
What is your cosplay/prop/weapons policy?
No live weapons or steel.
How much are tickets?
$15 Friday, $20 Saturday and $30 VIP weekend passes. Children age 8 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult.
Are tickets on sale at the door and online?
Yes. Tickets are available on our website at: www.monroecomic-con.com/event-list or at www.purplepass.com/MCC13 or at Our House Games located at 1211 S. Monroe St. in Monroe, Michigan. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Where can I park?
Free parking throughout the fairgrounds.
How did Monroe Comic Con get started?
“We put it together quickly in 2013 as a family after going to a large convention as a way to bring that large comic con fun and feel to our community at a fraction of the cost. And also as a way to help raise money for causes in our community throughout the year. “
What’s new this year?
“More of a focus on pop culture as a whole — encompassing music, sports, movies, comics, anime, art and pop culture icons.”
Who are some of the artists to look for?
“We’re excited to have the creator of the ‘Crow’ James O’Barr, co-creator of Marvel’s ‘New Mutants’ Bob McLeod, co-creator of Marvel’s ‘Misty Knight,’ Arvell Jones, co-creator of Marvel’s ‘Black Cat,’ Keith Pollard, Marvel’s ‘Zombie King,’ Arthur Suydam, Sgt. Slaughter and more.”
