Sturgis swim duo qualifies for MHSAA state finals

STURGIS — A pair of Sturgis swimmers are headed to the MHSAA state finals.

The Trojan duo qualified for the state finals at the SCC league championships held this past weekend. Both Seth Larimer and Gavan Miller will be representing Sturgis at the Division 3 finals, reaching state cut times.

Larimer finished fifth overall at the league meet in the 200 individual medley. His state-qualifying time was 2:12.19.

Miller qualified for the state finals in the 100 breaststroke race. He finished sixth overall at 1:05.73.

The MHSAA Division 3 state finals will be held at Holland Aquatic Center March 13-14.

While Larimer and Miller were the only Trojans to qualify for the state finals, Sturgis also had several All-Conference selections at the SCC.

Larimer himself finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke at 1:08.64. Miller was seventh in the 50 freestyle (24.81 seconds).

The 200 medley relay of Miller, Larimer, Cal Langworthy and Cohen Hart placed fifth overall at 1:51.38.

Langworthy’s time in the 100 freestyle was 54.05 seconds, good for sixth.

Reece Miller swam to a pair of All-Conference spots. He was sixth overall in the 100 backstroke at 1:02.24 and seventh in the 100 freestyle at 54.08 seconds.

Hart logged a time of 1:05.61 in the 100 backstroke, he was eighth overall.

Langworthy, Larimer, Hart and Gavan Miller swam to seventh in the 200 freestyle relay. Their All-Conference time was 1:42.36.
