The Detroit Lions bounced back from a tough loss last week to defeat the Washington Commanders 44-22 in Week 10.
The Lions were dominant from start to finish with their best offensive performance since Week 2. They repeatedly took advantage of a porous Commanders defense and held backup quarterback Marcus Mariota in check, giving up 288 yards of offense.
Let’s take a look at the most notable individual performances for the Lions from their win:
Stud: Jahmyr Gibbs
Jahmyr Gibbs looked rejuvenated on Sunday, coming off the worst showing of his career last week.
Gibbs made multiple huge plays, including a 43-yard burst for a touchdown early in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach for the Commanders. He finished the day with 172 total yards and three total touchdowns.
Stud: Jared Goff
Jared Goff had some of his best drives of the season in this game against a defense that simply couldn’t keep up.
Goff had the offense humming despite taking some tough hits after the throw early on in the game. He stayed poised, delivering timely passes and putting up big numbers even while the running game stole the show.
Goff finished 25-of-33 for 320 yards and three touchdowns.
Stud: Jameson Williams
The Lions spammed the Jameson Williams button in the second half of this game, calling on the speedster on multiple occasions to make big plays that the Commanders didn’t have any answers for.
With Amon-Ra St. Brown getting the tightest coverage Washington had to offer, Williams found plenty of open space, running some great routes to get in Jared Goff’s line of sight. He caught six of his seven targets for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Stud: Dan Campbell’s glasses
Speculation swirled all over social media as Lions head coach Dan Campbell looked to be calling the plays on offense from the beginning of this game. Campbell typically has a play sheet with him, but he was very clearly communicating on the headset and with Goff between every play with glasses firmly perched on the end of his nose.
The offense looked a lot more like the 2024 Lions offense when called through Campbell’s spectacles, putting up 546 yards and 44 points. The Commanders’ defense is one of, if not the worst, units in football, and Campbell took full advantage of it.
Stud: Terrion Arnold
Before leaving the game with a reported concussion, Terrion Arnold was the best Lions player in coverage, matching up multiple times with the speedy Robbie Chosen and sticking to him like glue.
Arnold allowed just one catch to Treylon Burks, the only catch he allowed before getting knocked out of the game.
