Much of the Lower Peninsula could see severe weather this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
“Strong to severe thunderstorms, accompanied by potentially damaging wind gusts, are possible Saturday afternoon/evening in parts of the Upper Midwest/Lower Great Lakes,” the National Weather Service said.
Thunderstorms will spread across the Lower Peninsula in the afternoon on Saturday, July 26. Heavy rain could cause localized flooding, and wind gusts could reach 30 mph.
Excessive rain is expected for southern Michigan, stretching from Holland to Pontiac.
In the Upper Peninsula, widespread haze is forecast to continue because of smoke from the Canadian wildfires. An air quality advisory has been in effect for the entire Upper Peninsula, and select counties in the Lower Peninsula.
On Sunday, July 27, showers are expected to move in late across the UP.
Due to the mix of rain and temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to low 90s, conditions will be humid over the weekend across the state.
In Detroit, Lansing and Grand Rapids, on July 27, highs will be 90-91 degrees. In Marquette, the high could reach 90 degrees on July 26, then climb to 93 degrees on July 27.
