A new baked goods shop operated by nuns is now open in downtown Birmingham.
St. Roger Abbey at 215 N. Old Woodward specializes in French pastries and other baked goods. Its croissants, breads, quiches, cakes, and macarons and other offerings are made with organic ingredients. The establishment also has hot and cold organic coffee. Proceeds support the nuns’ mission of helping those in need.
“Every single one of the nuns’ pastries is a work of art because it is made by hand using traditional work methods from start to finish,” says a Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce listing about the new business.
Along with the fresh pastry and baked good offerings, St. Roger Abbey sells packages of cookies and other prepackaged items.
Hours are 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.
