A family medicine doctor is lodged in the Monroe County Jail after he allegedly tried to solicit a Florida mother to have sexual relations with her 5-year-old daughter in an undercover internet crime sting.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department in Florida stated it began an undercover investigation into Dr. William Murdoch in June 2025.
The department said Murdoch was chatting with the online officer, who was posing as a “mom,” pursuing a platonic relationship to see if she would allow her 5-year-old to have a sexual relationship with him.
“During the course of the investigation, stomach churning messages were exchanged that entailed his plan to groom the child and quickly turn the situation sexual,” the Port St. Lucie Police Department said in a news release. “Murdoch, goes into detail of his demented behavior that is too explicit to share in its entirety; However, it varied in having a sexual relationship in multiple ways.”
A warrant was issued for Murdoch’s arrest for soliciting a parent to consent to participation of sexual conduct involving a child. He was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and is currently lodged in the Monroe County Jail.
ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, where Murdoch is employed, said in a statement that his arrest triggered a suspension of his hospital privileges and termination of all activity he was involved with.
“We are supporting investigation efforts in this case,” read the statement. “Our priority is the safety and care of our patients and their families.”
