HARBOR SPRINGS — Welcome to summer in northern Michigan. The time of year where the area roads and downtown sidewalks fill up a bit more.
And, we really can’t blame anyone for coming.
Over recent years, northern Michigan summers have even featured a number of Michigan sports stars making appearances and that’ll happen once again this weekend in Harbor Springs.
On Sunday, June 14, Greyson Clothiers will welcome University of Michigan football and basketball standouts from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for a free meet and greet at their new Harbor Springs downtown storefront.
Greyson Clothiers is located at 117 West Main Street in Harbor Springs.
Also put on by Champions Circle – a Michigan athletics fan engagement platform – and True North Golf Club in Harbor Springs, autograph and photo opportunities will be available.
“Our mission at Champions Circle has always been to bring the Michigan family closer together, and there is no better place to do that than Harbor Springs,” Anna Britnell, Director of Champions Circle, said. “We are thrilled to kick off this week by giving the local community a chance to celebrate our men’s basketball national champions and several Michigan football players in person. By partnering with Greyson and True North, we’re able to blend the best of northern Michigan hospitality with the championship spirit of the Wolverines.”
Along with players in attendance, the session will also include the 2026 NCAA men’s basketball championship trophy. Michigan defeated UConn, 69-63, for the national title at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in April.
The event will feature five men’s basketball players – three returnees from the title team – along with four Michigan football players.
Among those scheduled to be in attendance include Trey McKenney of the Wolverines’ basketball team and Jordan Marshall and Smith Snowden from the football team, among others.
McKenney, a former McDonald’s All-American and Michigan Mr. Basketball from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, became a star as a freshman on the Michigan men’s team this season, earning All-Big Ten Freshmen Team honors.
Marshall starred as a running back for the Wolverines last season, earning All-Big Ten second team honors while running for 932 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was also named the team’s co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2025.
Snowden, a defensive back, is a new Wolverine that transfered from Utah, following new head coach, Kyle Whittingham. He was considered one of the top players across all of college football in the transfer portal.
He started 24 games over the past two years at Utah and offers some positon flexibility for the Wolverines, having racked up 97 yards offensively and three touchdowns over his career.
Also scheduled to be in attendance include Michigan football offensive line starters Jake Guarnera and Blake Frazier, along with LJ Cason, Brandon McCoy, JP Estrella and Quinn Costello of the men’s basketball team.
McCoy is a five-star signee in the Wolverines’ recent basketball class, while Estrella is a standout, 6-foot-11 center transfer from the University of Tennessee.
For some Michigan football players, it’ll come as a second trip already this summer to northern Michigan. The U-of-M football team recently hosted a team bonding retreat near Charlevoix, which included a round of golf at the Charlevoix Country Club.
Sunday’s event at Greyson Clothiers comes to northern Michigan as part of the second annual Northern Michigan Golf Experience at True North Golf Club the week of June 15, a sold-out private invitational.
Co-sponsors for the event also include McBride, Dusty’s Dogz, Gypsy Distillery, Whiskey JYPSI and Julieta y Romeo Cigars.
