Rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout Wednesday, July 9, weather officials said, with storms mostly likely in the mid- to southern portions of the Lower Peninsula.
Rain and thunderstorms were moving across the southern portion of the state early Wednesday morning.
Isolated and scattered thunderstorms are expected across the Lower Peninsula later in the day as well, with severe weather hitting southeast Michigan — mainly in the afternoon and evening from 2-10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Detroit.
“Large hail and damaging wind gusts near 60 mph are the primary hazards. Heavy rainfall and localized flooding are also possible. Stay updated on the latest forecast for your area,” the NWS in Detroit said on X.
On July 9, the Lower Peninsula should reach the 80s, with northern areas seeing cooler temperatures in the 70s. In the Upper Peninsula highs will range in 60s to 70s.
