CHEBOYGAN – Inland Lakes and Newberry will have to wait one more day until they battle each other in an MHSAA Division 4 girls basketball regional final.
Because of poor and especially icy weather conditions in parts of Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, Wednesday’s scheduled 7 p.m. matchup in Cheboygan has been postponed and will now be played on Thursday, March 12, at 7 p.m. in Cheboygan.
Both teams were coming off impressive regional semifinal victories, with the Bulldogs (21-3) blowing out Ellsworth in Boyne Falls and the Indians (19-2) beating St. Ignace in Sault Ste. Marie on Monday.
Thursday’s Inland Lakes-Newberry winner faces Ishpeming (22-3) in a 7 p.m. quarterfinal at Gladstone on Tuesday, March 17. Ishpeming defeated Ewen-Trout Creek 40-29 in a final at Westwood on Wednesday.
