Cast your vote for the Athlete of the Week presented by Glen Oaks!

STURGIS — It’s time to cast your votes for the Footballer of the Week from the opening games of the season.

A big congratulations go out to White Pigeon’s Maddix Jancasz, he officially won the Journal’s Preseason Player of the Year last week. He garnered more than 52 percent of the total votes cast for the annual award.

The athlete of the week award is once again being presented by Glen Oaks Community College.

The rules for athlete of the week are going to be a bit different this time around. You can now vote once per hour until the poll ends on Friday at noon-time. This should still allow for plenty of votes for each of the athletes.

Dracyn Foster, Coldwater QB

Foster led the Cardinals to a 44-6 victory over Sturgis in the season-opener last week. Foster accounted for 244 yards through the air on 15 completions and had three total touchdowns in the win.

Spencer Losinski, Bronson QB

Losinski threw a pair of touchdowns and ran one in as well as Bronson doubled-up Prairie Heights 32-16 on Friday.

Brody Godfrey, Constantine TB

Godfrey rumbled his way to the end zone twice in Thursday’s win for the Falcons over Delton-Kellogg, 40-6. Godfrey finished with a 53-yard touchdown catch and 180 yards rushing in the game.

Ty Strawser, White Pigeon QB

Strawser tossed a pair of touchdown passes for the Chiefs in a 38-0 win over Reading last week. Those TDs went to Brody Block (23 yards) and Taylor Stewart (21 yards). Strawser also ran in a 1-yard TD.

Taylor Stewart, White Pigeon RB

Stewart accounted for 102 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns for White Pigeon. He ran in a 3-yard TD and caught a 21-yard TD as well.

Jeremiah West, Colon QB

West rushed for 181 yards on the ground and a touchdown for Colon in the team’s 39-28 win over Holton. He also completed 12 passes for 229 yards and tossed three touchdown passes.

Peyton Street, Marcellus RB

Street rushed for 145 yards on seven carries for Marcellus in a 48-20 win over Morenci. Street found the end zone three times on those seven carries.
