2 injured in Battle Creek shooting

Battle Creek police are investigating a shooting that occurred shortly after midnight Saturday, July 5, in the 200 block of Hubbard Street.Officers responded to the area about 12:05 a.m. after hearing multiple gunshots. At the scene, they found a 25-year-old Charlotte man with several apparent gunshot wounds. He was treated by the Battle Creek Fire Department and Lifecare Ambulance Service before being transported to a hospital in Kalamazoo, where he remains in critical condition, the police department said in a press release.A 17-year-old Battle Creek man later arrived at a Battle Creek hospital by private vehicle, also suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said he is listed in stable condition.The Battle Creek Police Department crime lab processed the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.Anyone with information is asked to contact the Battle Creek Police Department or report anonymously through Silent Observer, 269-964-3888.
