“Natural Born” Citizen Debate | Constitution Corner

Robert Owens of the John Birch Society presents, “Natural Born” Citizen Debate.

Every time Joe Biden makes an appearance, he brings into question his mental faculties. BAmerica leads the world in total number of immigrants. With this being the case, there is some debate as to what makes a natural born citizen, and more controversially, whether or not Vice-President Kamala Harris is a natural born citizen. This is important to find out because being a natural born citizen is one of the requirements for becoming President of the United States.

According to the US Constitution, “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

Today on Constitution Corner, Robert Owens carefully examines the requirements of becoming President and a natural born citizen.

The John Birch Society is wrong on the law. Vice President Harris was born in the United States and is therefore a natural born citizen. As William Rawle (President Washington’s pick as US Attorney for Pennsylvania) wrote, “Therefore every person born within the United States, its territories or districts, whether the parents are citizens or aliens, is a natural born citizen in the sense of the Constitution, and entitled to all the rights and privileges appertaining to that capacity.“
