National Teacher Appreciation Week

With all the challenges and changes in our midst these days, kids, parents, and teachers alike are stepping up and finding ways to make it all work. For this, they all deserve our sincere thanks.

As a former teacher, I could not imagine what it would be like to teach and care for students remotely. And as dedicated as I know my former colleagues are, there have been many sleepless nights, tears, and feelings of despair. Thankfully, I know there have been many laughs and breakthroughs too. The many posts on social media from our newly appointed homeschool parents tell these tales. As parents, grandparents, and guardians stepped into the role of teacher, I doubt any of them would disagree that our classroom teachers deserve to be recognized and rewarded more often than once a year.

It also seems appropriate to take a moment and thank the educators at all levels who are working diligently to come up with new and innovative ways to reach our young people. Again, it can’t be easy, but I have faith that those involved will continue to work hard and ensure that our precious learners are not left behind. Teachers and administrators, for what it’s worth, I thank you!

Teaching has always been an art form. A craft that not just anyone can do. To those teachers who are working diligently to reach my son, and the thousands of other kids in the Blue Water Area, I am indebted to you. God Bless You!
