By Joseph Hayes

A year ago, the entire high school spring sports season was canceled due to Covid-19 related procedures.

This year, there have already been several delays in the winter sports season and now a delay to the starting point of spring sports.

On Monday, the Michigan High School Athletic Association Representative Council announced the spring sports season starting point would be delayed a week, with practices now beginning on March 22 and competition starting on March 26.

The decision was based off of feedback from a survey in which 74 percent of schools polled were in favor of a delay in the spring sports seasons.

End of the season spring sports tournament dates will remain the same, with the softball, baseball and girls soccer finals all being held on June 19.
